Accounting Interview Questions

The process through which all the financial information of any business organization or entity is communicated to all the business associates such as manager, share holders, etc as well as all the employees who are a part of that business entity is known as accountancy. The person who is responsible for managing all this information and handling all the financial procedures is known as an accountant.

An accountant generally communicates all the financial information with the help of financial statements that reflects all the available economic resources of that organization in terms of money. This information must be relevant to the company and it must also be reliable so that there is an ordered transparency between the employers and the employees regarding the financial status of the company. All the accountancy information is managed under the three basic principles of accountancy namely bookkeeping, accounting, and last but not the least, auditing.

Accounting is also known as the 'language of business', since it acts as the medium for communicating all the financial information about a particular business entity to all the different categories of business associates linked with that entity. Usually there are two ways of accounting depending on the type of people to whom it must be reported. These two types are financial accounting and management accounting.

If the accounting information concerns people who are directly related to the business such as the owner, managers, employees, and auditors, it is grouped under management accounting. This information is primarily related to management decisions. On the other hand, in case of financial accounting, all the financial information is concerned for the people who are indirectly related to the business entity. This information is mainly related to current business associates such as share holders and the business creditors such as loan vendors, banks, economists as well as government agencies and the financial analysts. Since this information is different for different groups of business associates, it is required to be more organized as compared to that of management accounting.

All the financial accounting information in a given jurisdiction is governed by some body of rules. This body of rules is termed as GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). International Financial Reporting Standards i.e. IFRS or US GAAP are some other governing bodies.
