Verbal Section : Reading Comprehension

Read the comprehension and answer the following question:

There have been many studies on mobile phones and associated health risks like cancer, brain damage and even infertility. Many scientists have been conducting these studies in various parts of the world and the mobile phone exposure and its effects on human health constituted the major part of these studies.

The scientists who were involved in these studies have found no proof of mobile phone exposure causing all these damages in the body or causing any kind of cancer.

Though no conclusive evidence was found, the scientists warn against prolonged use of mobile phones especially by children as there are no evidence against any long term ill effects causes by excessive usage of mobile phones.

BBC reported that the Health Protection Agency of the UK conducted this study and it is considered to be the most detailed research done on the subject of excessive mobile phone usage and its health effects.

A thorough research was conducted by a group of renowned experts for HPA in which all the harmful effects of low-level radio frequency were analyzed. Apart from the usage of mobiles, the study says that low level radio frequency commonly affects people through TV, radio broadcasting and Wi-Fi among other technologically advanced appliances.

The study concluded that those who were exposed to low level radio frequency below the UK guideline levels did not suffer from any symptoms and this also involved those who are sensitive to low frequency radiations. The claims of these radiations causing cancer, cardiovascular problems, infertility etc., found no evidence during the research. Though this may be assuring, very little is known about the effects of excessive usage of mobile phones after a period of five or ten years. So, it is important to monitor the usage and keep it limited as the long term effects may be greater as it is still an unknown area.

More research is required on the same with focus on the effects of these radiations on rain activity, tumors and also on the behavioral problems of children. Exposure to radiations from smart meters and airport security scanners are also to be included in the studies to be conducted in the future. The HPA though has strictly advised against the use of mobile phones by children.
